PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE BY PRESERVING THE PAST.
You are invited to be
part of the Mills Community House brick fundraiser project. We are honored to
offer the opportunity to become part of this historic treasure. Commemorate a
special event in someone’s life, honor a friend or family member, or memorialize
a loved one. Bricks will border the walkways, enhancing our beautiful grounds
and native plant gardens.
At a cost of only $100.00, you may purchase a 4”x8” brick with up to 4 lines of
engraving and up to 21 characters per line. Engraving will be ALL CAPS. Net
proceeds from brick sales will be used for repairs and improvements to the
building. We sincerely appreciate your donation.
The Historic Mills, a
distinctive red brick building, built in 1909 as a dormitory for the Benzonia
Academy, became the Mills Community House in 1925. It is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places. The Mills has been used as a public venue
throughout its history: a gymnasium, meeting location for educational and
cultural programs, and home to the Benzonia Public Library for nearly 100 years.
It was dedicated to the Mills Community House Association, a 501(c)3 nonprofit,
in 2002.
Our Mission is to…
“provide a venue for arts, cultural, and educational opportunities and
experiences in Benzie County through the renovation, preservation, and operation
of the historic Mills Community house as a center for these community
functions.”
