To complete his
Eagle Scout Project, Mayview's own, Donovan Aardema Faigh is joining forces with
the Mayview MO Foundation to salute our local heroes by designing and installing
a Veterans Memorial at the newly-renovated entrance of The Mayview School!
The Veterans
Memorial will be a beautiful space designed to memorialize and honor veterans
who have connections to the Mayview community. The bricks will outline the
landscaping and pathways around the flag pole and the feature center stone. The
center stone is dedicated to James W. Turner, a Mayview resident who served
during WWII. Mr. Turner died not knowing that he was awarded 9 medals for his
heroic service -- 5 of which were Bronze Stars. The center stone was
dedicated when the Turner family was honored during a special Veterans Day
ceremony in 2018.
Each red
memorial brick is $50 and will be 4" x 8" and engraved as follows:
Line 1:
IN MEMORY or HONOR OF
Line 2:
VETERANS FIRST AND LAST NAME
Line 3:
MILITARY BRANCH OR CONFLICT
