Help us build the Bixby Spartan Nature Center one brick at a time, leaving a legacy of a lifetime! BPS is in the process of making our dream for our nature center and outdoor classrooms a reality. All PTO’s across the district are collaborating together to make this a success!

The Spartan Nature Center will have 4 classroom areas, which will include an aquatic classroom, amphitheater, canopy classroom and a pavilion classroom. Our students spend 7 hours a day in the classroom, and this will give everyone the opportunity to learn in a natural environment. We want to bring our students closer to nature and create an exciting learning environment. Whether it is learning Science, Technology, Environmental, English, Health, History or Math, our Spartan Nature Center will provide hands-on opportunities for group projects, science experiments, calculating measurements and many other intriguing ways to learn! This will provide a year-round classroom with a living laboratory for all Bixby students.

Our budget for this project is $130,000 which will become a permanent feature to be utilized by students across our district for years to come. Our plan is to receive funding for a pavilion, amphitheater stage, docks for the aquatic classroom, over 3,000 feet of walking trails, and signage explaining the plants and animals native to Oklahoma.

Construction has already begun with the funds and materials contributed thus far, however, other major projects will begin as soon as we reach our fundraising goals. Our students will develop a sense of pride in the creation and caretaking of this living classroom. Stepping out of the classroom and into this amazing world of nature will have rewarding benefits!
