For nearly 30 years, the Walkersville Southern Railroad has been dedicated to
preserving railroad history in Frederick County, Maryland. The original
volunteers could only have dreamed that we would still be thriving and serving
thousands of passengers each year.
Recently, we established our museum as
a non-profit organization with a focus on history, education, and the
preservation of artifacts that highlight our railroad heritage. The museum is
housed in an un-restored industrial building next to the railroad and is open to
the public.
We plan to undertake major improvements to the building,
including enhancing accessibility, updating bathrooms, and making structural
repairs. These upgrades will enrich the visitor experience and provide a better
space for our dedicated volunteers.
To support the museum and its
mission, we are selling commemorative bricks until the end of the 2024 season,
with installation planned for before the 2025 season. We invite you to purchase
a brick as a lasting tribute to our past and future.
