FINISHING IT FOR MADDIE
Brick Campaign
On February 9, 2015, Bluegrass
Swim Team lost their team captain, Maddie Jackson, in a
car wreck on Versailles Road in Woodford Country while
she was on her way to swim practice. Maddie’s life
exemplified the characteristics that we hope to inspire
in all of our athletes: kindness, compassion,
diligence, courage, perseverance, selflessness,
competitiveness and a willingness to share her faith.
Bluegrass is committed to finishing what she started.
To do this, we are purchasing in full the pool facility
located at 730 Millpond Road and will be naming it the
MADDIE JACKSON AQUATIC CENTER in her name. It is
our hope that every child and adult that walks through
the doors will be positively influenced similar to the
impact Maddie’s life had on others.
By making this purchase, we can
continue her legacy by continuing to develop competitive
swimmers through our USA Swimming team, to teach youth
to swim through our learn-to-swim programs, to provide
recreational swim programs in the community, and to
encourage adults to swim through our Masters swim
program. The facility will not only boast an
Olympic-size six-lane pool that will operate year-round,
but will also include a training room for seminars,
video review, parent education meetings, social
activities, and so much more.
This FINISHING IT
FOR MADDIE campaign will lay the foundation for
years and years of exciting and beneficial programs for
youth and adults in the Central Kentucky area.
Each brick purchased will be prominently displayed in
the Aquatics Facility on the main wall that will
literally cement your place in history and make tribute
to an outstanding young lady who positively impacted so
many in our community.
