Become a Part of Dyersburg City Schools in the 21st
Century
Dyersburg City Schools has embarked upon
a 5-phase plan to renovate Dyersburg High School (opened 1971).
We feel that the full renovation can be completed in 12
years without asking for an increase in taxes.
A number of people in our community desire acceleration
in the schedule and have offered to help.
Thus, we have partnered with Bricks-r-Us to afford the
opportunity for donations to help fund our renovations.
We have already
completed the renovation to the
main entry, replaced the
windows and our entire HVAC system.
Our next step will include three parts:
“Field Turf” in J.C. Sawyers stadium
New
Chemistry Lab
New
Barn for the
Agricultural Department
“Field Turf” is a new artificial surface that will provide:
1.
A safer
playing surface for all participants.
2.
Long-term savings in field maintenance.
3.
An
increase in stadium events from 25 per year to 100 per year
4.
An
increase in local revenue due to out-of-town participation in
events
5.
Community draw for potential businesses and residents
Our stadium would be
expanded for use for:
1.
Middle
School Football
2.
Middle
School Soccer (girls and boys)
3.
High
School Football (varsity, JV and freshmen)
4.
High
School Soccer (girls and boys)
5.
High
School track and field (girls and boys)
6.
Band
competition
7.
Band
practice
8.
Community events (Big River Bowl, YMCA events, Special Olympics,
etc.)
9.
Community little league football
10.
Graduation
11.
Potential concerts, FCA regional events, etc.
Our new
Chemistry Lab will
serve the increasing needs within our medical and industrial
workforce.
The new
barn will give us the
ability to expand our Agriculture Programs.
The
long-term savings and
increased revenues
will allow Dyersburg City Schools to proceed with additional
improvements.
Purchasing a donor brick will allow you
to become a part of the effort to accelerate our improvements.
Your brick will become a permanent fixture on the
sidewalk in front of the new entrance (opened in November 2012)
as a reminder of your dedication to excellence in education.
The Dyersburg community has always taken
great pride in education.
We have prepared thousands of students for successful
careers, and many have settled far from their roots in West
Tennessee. To give
back for what you have received and to prepare the next
generations, become a part of the effort to complete the
renovations of Dyersburg High School.
