Through a "Buy A Brick Program" the
current members of Gratitude Training's Masterful Living
training course are raising funds to help Aid to Victims of
Domestic Abuse (AVDA), a Certified Domestic Violence Center
providing Palm Beach County, Florida with emergency shelter, a
24-hour hotline, support services for victims of domestic abuse,
and prevention and education programs for the community. AVDA
received the “Gold” level certification from Nonprofits First
and is Certified for Excellence in Nonprofit Management.
AVDA promotes violence-free relationships and social change by
offering alternative choices to end violence and domestic abuse.
Since 1984 AVDA's philosophy has been to provide prevention
through education, advocacy and intervention. All survivors of
family violence should be provided with a safe haven. They must
be treated with dignity and their right to self-determination
encouraged. Interventions which blame the victim and do not hold
the abuser accountable are inappropriate. AVDA will encourage
and advance the empowerment of survivors and seek social change
by addressing the existing imbalance of power within violent
relationships.
The proceeds raised during this campaign
will fund essential AVDA projects including installation of a
new computer room and children’s playroom, installation of
hurricane proof safety glass windows, and other crucial
structural improvements to create a safe and protective haven
for women and children in need.
We will create a brick
walkway made from bricks engraved with the names of your loved
one or an inspirational message. Commemorate a special event in
someone's life, honor a friend or family member and memorialize
someone special. This walkway will be used by the residents of
the AVDA shelter who will forever gaze upon these names and
messages and draw strength from this act of commemoration. We
will ensure your brick engraving is proof read and can provide a
tax deductible donation receipt, if requested. Bricks will sell
for $75 for a four by eight inch brick; $200 for bricks placed
at the very front of the walkway. This 4x8 brick will have space
for three lines, eighteen characters per line. We would
