Helping Strays is dedicated to
placing abandoned and homeless pets in loving new homes.
By promoting responsible pet ownership, our goal is to
reduce the number of homeless pets and to prevent animal
cruelty. We seek a truly humane society where compassion
and understanding guide our relationship with animals
and the human-animal bond is strong and healthy.
Since 2002, Helping Strays has
rehomed over 3000 pets, 430 in 2014 alone. Our new
shelter, located on Hanover Rd in Columbia, IL, will let
us continue our mission by providing clean, healthy
housing for our pets, and a welcoming environment for
our adopters. Construction of phase one, including 29
runs for adoptable dogs, a free cat room, and quarantine
and isolation areas, began with groundbreaking on March
7, 2014. Phase two, a training and community room for
adopter education and Phase 3, which includes additional
runs, as well as a garage and storage, await future
funding.
Bricks will line the entrance
walkway and demonstrate your commitment to caring for
our area's neglected and homeless pets. Thank you for
helping us help them.
