In the late 1740s John McKown, originally from
Scotland, moved his family to the United States
of America. The family would over time buy the
majority of the land in what is now They would
donate land for the construction of the Great
Western Turnpike built in 1799 (today West
Avenue)as well as land for a local church
(McKownville Methodist Church) and for a one
room school house. |
For our anniversary, we would like to build a memorial
patio outside the sanctuary that not only will allow a
place of fellowship outdoors, but can have the names of
current and past members, so that they can forever add
their names to what has been the heart of our great
community, our church.
