The Taborian
Hospital of Mound Bayou Mississippi was first a vision before
becoming a reality just as are all successful ventures of
magnitude.
There was an existing need and
members of Knights
& Daughters of Tabor and other
citizens inspired by the Moses Dickson philosophy “What One Man
Cannot Accomplish, Many Men United Can” ventured to supply the
overwhelming need of medical and hospital care for African
Americans in Mississippi and surrounding areas.
The City of Mound
Bayou, Knights & Daughters of Tabor, Mound Bayou Civic Club and
several current and former residents of Mound Bayou work in
partnership and united
to avoid the loss of tangible
historic symbols in the city.
This preservation effort,
Saving Our Legacy ( SOL) works to preserve the integrity,
information and special meaning these sites hold for our past,
current and future generations.
To accomplish
this we have established The Legacy Walkway Project.
The bricks will form a walkway
on the circular driveway on the front of the Taborian Hospital
property.
The Legacy Walkway will erect a
permanent place of remembrance of loved ones past and present
and their contributions through
the years . This Legacy Walkway will serve as a lasting way to
commemorate those who have labored and erect an inclusive record
for history in the heart of the City of Mound Bayou.
We are making
available for purchase to families, friends and past, current
and present members of the Mound Bayou community 4X8 engraved
bricks.
A message with your name is
sandblasted and engraved.
The wording on your brick
message can be three (3) lines
.
Every brick and its wording has
a lifetime guarantee to ensure its preservation to the next
generation.
Please join us as
we initiate the continual move in a united way to accomplish the
goal of Saving Our Legacy in Mound Bayou.
The Mound Bayou
Legacy Walkway
will be constructed
personalized walkway bricks that can be in memory of legacy
descendants, in acknowledgement of support or crafted to
establish a familial connection for generations to come.
The Legacy Bricks are $50
each
and have 4X8 standard brick dimensions.
A certificate of Legacy Brick
purchase can also be purchased.
Supporters who purchase
by March 25, 2011 will be
recognized at the Save Our Legacy Banquet on Saturday, March 26,
2011 at the Mound Bayou Community Facility Building, 301 E.
Martin Luther King at 7 pm.

with the architect making this visit to the site especially
exciting. The Mound Bayou Legacy Walkway will be in front of the
Taborian Urgent Care Center/Campus. Bricks will be on sale at
Mound Bayou's 4th Annual September Fest, Sept. 1-3, 2012.
