On April 16, 2016, Mr. Bennie D. Bennett, Newberry County School District’s beloved superintendent passed away in a fatal car accident. The school district and community as a whole has been deeply affected by the event and in order to memorialize Mr. Bennett’s life and dedication to the education of Newberry County students, Newberry High School has come together to build a Bulldog Garden. The garden will not only feature a beautiful bench, Bennie’s Bench and plaque in Mr. Bennet’s honor— but the bricks will create a walkway, which will provide members of the faculty, student body, and community as a whole an opportunity to create diverse and lasting memories at the school. The garden is dedicated to the school from the National Honor Society, 2017 Senior Class, and the Student Government Association.
