Poulin Park Gazebo Project
History
The Penacook
Village Association is leading an effort to build a new gazebo
in the reconfigured Poulin Park.
Dave Poulin, a
City Councilor who passed away in office, was responsible for
the construction of the original gazebo. After his death in
2001, the community raised funds for a memorial plaque and
petitioned the city to
rename the
site Poulin Park.
Village Street Construction Project/Current Concerns
It was
determined that the gazebo could not be successfully moved when
the park was reconfigured during the village construction
project, and it was demolished.
In June, the Penacook Village
Association formed a committee, Friends of Poulin Park, to
rebuild the gazebo and provide amenities for the reshaped Poulin
Park. The new gazebo
will be fully accessible and will be a more durable design. The
gazebo will have lighting for safety, and it will be decorated
for major holidays.
In order to do all this, we need your help.
Friends of Poulin Park – Fund Raiser
We are seeking
donations and will be selling engraved pavers to be installed
inside the park. The
pavers will come in two sizes – 4X8 for a $100 donation (up to 3
lines of text – 18 characters per line) and 8X8 for a $250
donation (up to 6 lines of text – 18 characters per line). We’ve
established a web page (Penacook.org/PoulinParkGazebo) to serve
as an information source as we move forward. Checks should be
made payable to the Penacook Village Association with “Poulin
Park Fund” in the memo line. Mail them to: PVA, PO Box 6174,
Penacook, NH 03303. All funds raised will be dedicated to the
park. Look for donation containers in local businesses as well.
