MEMORIAL PATIO PROJECT |
Brothers:
The
Memorial Patio Project has taken its first 'concrete'
steps between concept and reality. During the final week
of April, 2015, a 2-level stamped concrete patio was
poured in what remains of the back yard of the House. An
opening was left in the area directly behind the Pit
(that would be the
former garage for our pre-Pit
Brothers) within which we will install a granite
Triple-T centerpiece, to ultimately to be encircled by
engraved bricks representing individual Brothers. We
have budgeted $20,000 for Phase I of the Project,
approximately $12,000 of which represents
the cost of the newly-poured
concrete surfaces, with the remaining $8,000 going
toward the aforementioned Triple-T centerpiece,
landscaping, fencing, and the cost of the engraved
bricks.
We have received numerous
inquiries and suggestions from Brothers during the
2-years of initial discussions and planning for the
Project, the majority of which centered around two main
themes:
(1) how will Brothers who have
passed on to the big House in the sky be represented
(and may Brothers purchase bricks in memoriam for those
of their era who have made the final journey), and
(2) can special adjunct
projects be incorporated into the overall Patio design
(for example, a flagpole and flag with plaque for those
Brothers who have served in the Military, and an
umbrella or picnic table with a plaque representing a
specific Pledge Class). To answer simply, yes of course,
and yes, of course. We will make every effort to
accommodate special sub-Projects, and to make certain
that all Brothers who are unable to fund their own brick
may still be represented in the Memorial Patio.
To participate in funding
Phase I, Brothers may purchase individual bricks for
$150, approximately $50 of which represents the cost of
engraving, shipping, and installation, with the
remaining $100
going toward construction of
the Patio.
You may also purchase a
brick for a specific deceased Brother, or make an
additional contribution toward the purchase of bricks
for deceased Brothers in general. We will be more than
happy to assist you in those efforts, please contact us
for more information.
Bricks will be installed
at various intervals during the year, perhaps during
Founder's Day activities each May, or during KSU's
Homecoming weekend each Fall.
Sales have been brisk thus
far, and we are well on our way toward our initial goal.
Don't be left out, order your brick today.
