The Suffolk Advisory Board of the Salvation Army requests your help!  The Salvation Army Capital Campaign, Touch Lives with Health and Hope, headed by Mr. George Birdsong, Dr. L. D. Britt, and Mr. Bobby Harrell, is raising funds for a new facility which will be attached to the present building at 400 Bank Street, in the heart of Suffolk.  We will then be able to expand our offerings of programs that encompass the goal of meeting the needs of mind, body, and spirit.

There are 1,900 children and 1,400 seniors living within a one mile radius of the Salvation Army who are in need of healthy lifestyle education and other programs, especially since the Birdsong Recreation Center was demolished.  Nurturing the self-esteem of the youth of Suffolk who are challenged by existing socio-economic conditions, instilling Christian moral values in the everyday lives of children and seniors, and providing a safe place for them to participate in supervised sporting and educational programs such as tutoring, computers, crafts and summer camps are some of the goals for our new 22,500 square foot facility.

Extending a helping hand to those in need is the cornerstone of the well-established legacy of the Salvation Army. This new facility will allow services to be expanded to more individuals. ~ L. D. All segments of the Suffolk community have been extremely supportive.  To date, $1,500,000 of the needed $1,950,000 has been raised.  The building will be totally funded by private donations, and all gifts are tax deductible.
