Wheeling NEEDS a dog park!  The effort to build an off leash dog park in Wheeling began with dog lovers from all over the Upper Ohio Valley rallying together and winning the national PETSAFE contest seed money to the tune of $25,000.  It went a long way in showing how much the Ohio Valley loves animals, in particular, their dogs!

With this great start, we are on our way!  A beautiful and centrally located site has been selected in the Tunnel Green Recreation Area.  The site is just off of I-70 and Rt. 2 South near the Wheeling Tunnel.  It is easily accessed from all directions including Ohio.  The park will include separate sections for large and small dogs.  We would like to have the park open by August of 2015.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!

… You will have helped to provide our best friends with a safe and legal place to do things that many of our dogs don’t get to do:  exercise, play, and socialize.  In addition, the program gives you the opportunity to memorialize a lost pet or family member who loved dogs.  Consider gifting a brick to a dog lover who may be a co-worker, neighbor, teacher, valued employee, graduate or newlywed couple.
